to access. (We would prefer everyone sign up, but will definitely take walk-ins as well.)

  4. Your known conflicts – extremely important for scheduling purposes – please be honest – having a reasonable number of conflicts will not exclude you from the cast – however, our policy is THREE missed rehearsals not listed as conflicts and you may be removed from the cast.
  5. OPTIONAL: Resumé highlighting theatrical and musical background.

Auditions

  1. Auditioners for singing roles should be prepared to sing two of the four selection(s) from the Songs link.
    • Note that the selections are cut-down versions of the songs. Read the words and music carefully, and note which measures to sing.
    • Make sure you are practicing in the correct key as provided in the music. Be careful watching YouTube videos and listening to music on-line, as they may not match the audition selection.
    • The Audition Team may ask you to sing the entire selection, or may stop you at any point. This is not an indication of how well your audition went, as your audition will be terminated when the team members have heard or seen enough to evaluate you. They may also check your voice range by playing scales.
    • Copies of the selections will be available at the auditions, or you may print your own copies and bring them along.
  2. Auditioners for principal characters may be asked to read scenes. Reading sides are provided at the Readings link.
    • You may be asked to read another role, other than that for which you are auditioning, either to consider you for that role or to assist with the overall process.
    • If you are not asked to read, this does not mean that you will not be offered a role. The Casting Committee may be able to judge your acting ability from your singing audition.
    • Copies of the readings will be available at the auditions, or you may print your own copy and bring it along.
  3. You will be taught simple dance steps to music from Seussical, then perform them in a group on stage. Wear comfortable clothes and "character/dance" shoes if you have them. No stocking feet or bare feet, flip flops, etc.

Callbacks

Callbacks may or may not be held, depending on the results of the original auditions.

  1. Auditioners who are "called back" for specific principal roles will be asked to sing the song selections indicated for their roles on the Songs link.
  2. Readings will be performed at the callbacks. Be prepared to "act" the selection pertaining to the roles(s) for which you are auditioning shown on the Readings link.

If you are not invited to callbacks, that does not necessarily mean that you will not be selected for the show. Non-principal speaking roles and the Ensemble will be chosen on the basis of the first audition.
